The González Vázquez family has a long history. It all begins when, at the end of the 19th century, their ancestors began to make wine in the area. The current family is the fourth generation and it is not until the end of the 80s that they decide to buy the property. The house is from the s. XVIII and, once restored, it has been dedicated to wine tourism, in addition to housing the winery’s own facilities, knowing how to combine traditional elements, such as stone and wood, with the most advanced technology for the production of their wines. Casal de Arman Winery was founded in 1989 with the aim of producing wines with the native grape varieties of Ribeiro D. O. Currently has about 20 hectares of vineyards located in O Cotiño, in the municipality of Ribadavia, Ourense; planted in espalier, with not very fertile soils composed of granite, sands and some clay, at an altitude of 350m above sea level. The varieties that are used for the elaboration of all the wines of Casal de Armán are Treixadura, Godello, Albariño, Loureira as for the white wines and Brancellao, Caiño and Sousón as for the red wines. The white wine of the Casal de Arman Winery could be considered as one of the best Galician wines of the moment. They are wines with a soft straw colour, bright, with greenish reflections. With fresh aromas, in the mouth they are unctuous and frank, with a very well integrated acidity. They are complex wines, very expressive and persistent.
