Appearance: Clean and elegant, straw-colored with a greenish rim.
Bouquet: It is a wine with noble aromas, which transmits its aromatic intensity from the expression of plants such as fennel, gorse and a delicate memory of the chestnut flower, with citrus notes and an attractive hint of wet rock.
Palate: On the palate it is great on the attack, fresh but voluptuous at the same time, fat, which melts into a complex and fruity mid palate. Its finish is marked by the saline minerality of its soil that gives it the personality and character of a great wine.
Rafael Palacios began his personal project in 2004, in the sub-area of Valle del Bibei – municipality of O Bolo, Valdeorras D.O, buying old vineyards of the native white Godello variety from elderly winegrowers. The extreme orography and the low production of its not very fertile soils, the phylloxera and the depression of the 1920s, led to the almost total abandonment of this small but historic wine region. Grown mainly on terraces, these small plots were inherited by these grape growers by lottery, “Sorte” in Gallego. They are located in the westernmost part of the region, at the foot of the central massif of Ourense where the geological history of the region is strongly influenced by the starting material, granite, mainly in its morphology and physical characteristics. They are sandy soils that are formed by the natural degradation of this granite rock and by the presence of quartz shales. They are not very fertile, acidic and erodible soils, for this, light tilling machinery has been adapted in order to take care of the structure of their terraces, as well as the incorporation of traditional tillage with animal traction, thus recovering traditional viticulture and historical landscape of the Bibei Valley.
